Cosmic Background

Andrew McCarthy is an astrophotographer based in Elk Grove, California. He utilizes ten different types of cameras to capture the cosmic wonders of his imagery.  When Andrew first conceives of an image, he has to consider the equipment used and the location.

We asked him what drew him to photography. He responded that it was his “love for space and frustration of not being alive in a time when I can physically travel the universe. Thankfully through my photography, exploring the universe is possible.”
