Trick or Trick...
We hope you have a strong stomach... COOPH ambassador Leo Rosas created this gory shoot for Halloween.
"In this series I collaborated with professional retoucher Michael Ramtharder – he is an avid golfer so our aim was to combine all three – horror, golf and photography… Usually movies are the most popular format for horror stories, so we decided to do something different with this sequential series featuring "Jason Voorhees" from Friday the 13th," explains Leo.
Leo explains a bit more on the shots below:
For the portrait of the Golf Player I used a Elinchrom Quadra with standard reflector placed from camera right for a big contrast (45 degrees angle to get that nice "Rembrandt triangle"), and for Jason I used an umbrella and from above for drama and softer light quality. A Nikon SB 900 speedlight was used from the back to create an edge light which would be complemented with the mood and the other images of background later on in post.
For the playing scene where Jason approaches the golf player, I decided to add a little light painting effect with the use of the continuous light from the Elinchrom Quadra whilst triggering the flash on rear curtain to freeze the subjects.
It was a tricky shoot, no much light and a really cold night, the models (Wolfgang Pöllmann and Johannes Kendler) were rockstars and did their best under the cold weather. All this was possible thanks to the team work with Michael Ramhardter!
